Nice breeding stock/new blood, these 2024 birds are now beautifully coloured, in breeding condition, ready for this season. I don't colony breed and ring the birds so unrelated can be easily identified.

My finches are aviary bred and need to be kept in a well sheltered outdoor aviary with 12mm wire size. A safety door is essential, they are fast and it is heartbreaking to lose your birds outside as they won't survive. They are not suited to small or indoor cages. Gouldians generally mix well with other finches, canaries. Finches should not be kept with birds like budgies, java sparrows, lovebirds as these birds tend to be very dominant.

Good quality finch/canary mix plus greens (seeding grasses, broccoli, bok choy, apple), access to cuttlefish, grit (microwave your egg shells for about 3/4mins and crush).

I have included photos of easy to make travel box if you don't have a travel cage. An open canary type cage is not suitable for transporting they can be easily injured. As it is cardboard it is only suitable for Finches, Canaries Turks and Bourkes - birds that don't chew!!
But could be a good template for a DIY person.
Use STRONG packing tape. Use left over aviary wire or get a fine strong plastic mesh with small holes from Bunnings or Mitre10. Cat food tins for drinker and food, use double sided tape to hold them in place. Your birds can travel safely and in comfort. Enjoy your birds.
